Die wundervolle Box The King Of Rock & Roll - The Complete 50's Masters war mein persönlicher Einstieg in die Welt der CDs! Sie enthält 5 CDs. Box und Booklet sind in LP-Größe. Viele tolle Fotos. Hervorragende Liner Notes (siehe unten). Und, was mir den Einstieg erleichterte (immerhin musste ich ja alle meine LPs ersetzen), die enthält ausnahmslos alle Master der 50er Jahre - in chronologischer Reihenfolge, in der sie Elvis aufgenommen hat! Alle Singles, EPs und LPs. Dazu noch die 5. CD Rare And Rockin' voll mit Raritäten ... Hier war mein persönliche Highlight ein Alternate Take von Shake, Rattle & Roll mit einer zusätzlichen Strophe und einem Klaviersolo. Gigantisch!

Ach ja, die Tonqualität. Als ich die CDs das erste mal hörte, war ich hin und weg. Dann hörte ich das Schlagzeug bei My Baby Left Me, und ich kramte meine LP hervor, weil ich sicher war, hier eine andere, nie gehörte Version vorliegen zu haben. Es war das selbe Lied, aber der neue Sound war überwältigend!

Mittlerweile ist das Set in Buchform neu veröffentlicht worden.
